Sri Lanka preparing new plans

Sri Lanka are are preparing new plans to tackle England ahead of the second ODI of the five-match series in Durham on Sunday.

The tourists ran into a vibrant emerging England side at The Oval on Thursday, losing by 81 runs, but Sachithra Senanayake says the bowlers will be better prepared for the hosts' deep batting line-up, not least Chris Jordan, who impressed lower down the order with some big hitting.

"We have some plans, and hope we can give them a big fight," said Senanayake.

"Jordan bowled really well on that skiddy pitch, and did well with his batting in those late overs.

"They have a good side, especially with their strong batting line-up, so we bowlers will need to work hard against them."

The 300-mile trip north is unlikely to make Sri Lanka feel any more at home - a point acknowledged by Senanayake - although he is optimistic Angelo Mathews' team can run England closer in Durham.

"It's difficult conditions for us, because it's so cold," he said. "We can't control those things.

"But we are confident of coming back in the games to come."
