Stade Francais sign Tomas

Stade Francais have signed France international scrum-half Julien Tomas on a two-year deal from domestic rivals Castres.

Tomas, 29, who won the under-21 World Cup in 2006, was used mainly as cover this season for South African Rory Kockott and appeared in just nine matches.

He has picked up three caps for France although his last international appearance dates back to 2011 when he played during the Six Nations against Wales.

Stade Francais narrowly missed out on the French championship play-offs this weekend when they were beaten by Top 14 leaders and European Cup finalists Toulon 17-15.

Castres, who were also beaten 23-13 at Bayonne, clung on to the sixth and final spot in the play-offs as they finished one point above Stade Francais.
