Reigning champions Nottingham Panthers beat Fife Flyers in a penalty shootout after the scores had been locked at 4-4 at full-time.

Coventry Blaze denied Belfast Giants a third straight win by running out 5-0 victors at the Odyssey Arena. Ryan Ginand and Adam Henrich scored a brace each with Michael Henrich contributing a fifth goal.
Elsewhere, Braehead Clan needed a strong third period from Ash Goldie to edge out Cardiff Devils 4-3 in Wales having trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes.
