Steelers move level with Giants

Sheffield Steelers moved level on points with Belfast Giants in the Elite League after contrasting overtime fortunes for the sides on Saturday.

While the Steelers overcame Dundee Stars 4-3 as Sami Ryhanen netted a hat-trick in a losing cause, Belfast went down 5-4 to Coventry Blaze in their extra period.

Tylor Michel was Sheffield's match-winner after Jeff Legue, Tom Sestito and Shawn Limpright scored in regulation time but Ryhanen forced an extra period.

Brad Leeb scored twice in the third period and again in overtime to turn the game around for Coventry after Belfast had led 3-1.

Andrew Fournier (two) and Noah Clarke put Belfast on top but Leeb and Mike Schutte added to Dustin Cameron's earlier goal to make it 4-3. Jeff Mason forced overtime but Leeb had the final say.

Stuart Macrae scored twice for Cardiff Devils as they beat Braehead Clan 7-5 while Fife Flyers saw off Edinburgh Capitals 2-1, Kris Hogg with the winning goal.
