Steelers through to semi-finals

Sheffield are through to the Elite League play-off weekend a 6-1 win over Coventry on Tuesday night handed them a 9-3 aggregate victory.

Steelers head coach Gerad Adams was brought in to replace Doug Christiansen late in the regular season knowing that a good play-off run could secure him the job on a permanent basis next term.

And a brace from Rob Dowd coupled with goals from Dustin Kohn and Maxime Lacroix gave Sheffield a 4-0 lead to add to their 3-2 first-leg advantage at the end of the second period.

Ross Venus grabbed a goal back for the Blaze but a second strike from Kohn and a Danny Meyers goal helped increase Adams' chances of keeping his position behind the bench of his former club.

The Steelers now go on to face Braehead in the evening semi-final in Nottingham on Saturday, with the winners facing the victor from the early game between league champions Belfast and surprise package Fife in the Championship game on Sunday.
