England limited-overs all-rounder Ben Stokes has revealed he is to have a scan on the back injury which is preventing him from bowling.
Stokes, 20, hurt his back in Durham's opening LV= Division One County Championship match against Middlesex at Lord's this month.
The hard-hitting left-hander played in five one-day internationals and two Twenty20s for England last summer, despite a finger injury which curtailed his medium-pace bowling then too and has required two operations.
Stokes, named in the England Lions squad to face the West Indies at Northampton next week, told espncricinfo.com: "I've got a scan coming up, so I hope that will tell us more.
"If it stops me from bowling that is going to be a setback.
"I had a couple of stress reactions in my back when I was younger. But this doesn't feel similar, so I hope it's not that bad."
