Strauss joins Middlesex board
Former England skipper Andrew Strauss has joined the executive board of Middlesex County Cricket Club with immediate effect.
Strauss, who played for Middlesex for 14 years, replaces Paul Downton who was named managing director of the ECB last autumn.
Middlesex CCC chairman Ian Lovett said of the appointment: "We are absolutely thrilled that Andrew has accepted our invitation to join the board.
"He is a Middlesex man through and through, with an outstanding reputation within the game.
"Finding the right man to replace Paul Downton was always going to prove a challenge. However, in Andrew Strauss, we've found the perfect solution.
The 37-year-old Strauss played 100 Tests for England, scoring 21 tons, with an average of 40.91.
The left-handed opening batsman also contested 127 one-day internationals.
