Austria's Anna Fenninger saw off overall champion Tina Maze to clinch her second World Cup giant-slalom win of the season in Ofterschwang.
Leading the Slovenian by three hundredths of a second after the first run, Fenninger increased her advantage in her second run to finish in a combined time of 2:29.39, while Maze took silver in 2:29.83.
There was some consolation for Maze, who becomes the first woman to secure eight giant-slalom World Cup podium finishes in the same season.
Germany's Viktoria Rebensburg delighted the home fans by holding onto her third place after the first run, eventually claiming bronze in a time of 2:30.35.
