Successful surgery for Cech
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has undergone successful surgery on his shoulder injury.
The Czech international dislocated his shoulder in the Champions League semi-final first-leg against Atletico Madrid and the club has confirmed the 31-year-old will be out the next eight to 10 weeks, which should leave him fit for the start of pre-season training in the summer.
Mark Schwarzer will continue in goal for the final match of the season against Cardiff on Sunday.
"Petr Cech successfully underwent surgery today (Wednesday) following his shoulder dislocation in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid," read a statement on the club's official website.
"He will be out for approximately eight to 10 weeks."
Cech's position as No.1 at Stamford Bridge will come under pressure next season with the return of Thibaut Courtois from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid.
The Belgian played a major role in the Blues' Champions League exit against the Spanish league leaders and will hope to be first choice in west London after three seasons out on loan.
