Sunderland v Stoke preview
Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is likely to restore most of his big names to the starting line-up for Wednesday night's Barclays Premier League clash with Stoke.
The Uruguayan made 10 changes for Saturday's 1-0 FA Cup fourth-round victory over non-league Kidderminster, but will field his strongest available line-up as he attempts to finally drag the Black Cats out of the bottom three.
Defender Carlos Cuellar has returned to light training after a long-term hip injury while full-back Andrea Dossena has shaken off an Achilles problem, although neither is likely to be involved. Goalkeeper Keiren Westwood continues his recovery from shoulder surgery.
Striker Peter Odemwingie could make his Stoke debut in the game.
The Potters announced on Tuesday that they had completed the signing of Odemwingie from Cardiff, with Kenwyne Jones moving in the opposite direction as part of a player-exchange deal.
Captain Ryan Shawcross is expected to play with protection on a wrist he has fractured and fellow defender Erik Pieters should be fit despite having to come off in Sunday's FA Cup clash with Chelsea, while Robert Huth (knee), Andy Wilkinson (heel) and Matthew Etherington (calf) are set to remain sidelined.
