Super Kings keep pace at top

Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets to move level on points with IPL leaders Kings XI Punjab.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit 22 not out from 12 deliveries to see the Super Kings to a target of 158 at the Wankhede Stadium.

Opener Dwayne Smith set up the pursuit with a 51-ball 57 but 11 were still needed heading into the final over, which started with two wides from Mumbai seamer Kieron Pollard.

Dhoni then hit a six to midwicket and slapped the next delivery through the covers to seal victory, completing a miserable day for Pollard who had earlier been dismissed for a golden duck.

The Indians made 157-6 after being sent in to bat, Ambati Rayudu top scoring with 59 containing four sixes, while Super Kings spinner Ravi Aswin claimed 3-30.

The result is Chennai's seventh win in nine matches this season and they trail the Kings XI, who have a game in hand, only on net run-rate.

Defending champions Mumbai are second from bottom of the eight-team league after their sixth defeat out of eight.
