Surrey scrape past Somerset

Surrey boosted their NatWest T20 Blast qualification hopes with a narrow three-wicket win over South Group rivals Somerset in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Wednesday night.

The Londoners leapfrogged Glamorgan and Hampshire into second place with their seventh win in 11 matches, thanks in the main to a disciplined bowling and fielding display which limited the Cidermen to just 136-9.

Pace bowler Matt Dunn took 3-8 after the hosts had opted to bowl first and, despite a lower-order wobble with the bat, Surrey scraped home with five balls remaining.

The defeat means Somerset stay in fifth place with two group games to play, while Surrey, who finish with three away fixtures, have the prospect of a home quarter-final in their own hands.
