Swindon stunned by Eastleigh

Swindon Town suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Conference side Eastleigh at Silverlake Stadium.

It was the first defeat in four pre-season games for Mark Cooper's side, with goals either side of half-time sealing their fate.

The home team took an early lead when Lawson D'Ath fired a rehearsed free-kick beyond the reach of Wes Foderingham in the Robins goal.

Swindon's best chance of the half fell to Nathan Byrne, but the defender's shot flew harmlessly over the bar.

Nathan Thompson produced a moment of magic after the break as he ran at the home defence before his shot rebounded off the post, but as Swindon pushed for the equaliser they left themselves open at the back.

After having an effort cleared off the line, Eastleigh finally secured the win when Craig McAllister's header found the corner of the net beyond the sprawling Foderingham.
