Taunton call Sunday inspection

Sunday's meeting at Taunton will have to pass a 7.30am inspection if it is to go ahead.

The Somerset course has been hit by substantial rainfall over the Christmas period and there is now standing water on parts of the track.

Head groundsman Kevin Councill said: "We have got standing water so we've had to call an inspection.

"We will have to see what happens. They are forecasting a dry day from now on.

"We did not expect the amount of rain we had overnight - 22 millimetres caught us by surprise.

"It was a lot of rain to have in a short period of time on top of what we've had already."
