Taunton on, Leicester inspect

This afternoon's meeting at Taunton goes ahead as planned after the track passed a precautionary inspection.

Clerk of the course Jason Loosemore had planned to check conditions at 7am but was able to green light the meeting slightly earlier than planned after just three millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours.

The going is officially described as heavy.

Meanwhile, officials at Leicester have called a precautionary inspection for 3.45pm today ahead of tomorrow's meeting.

The going is currently reported to be heavy on the hurdles course and soft, heavy in places on the chase track with further rain expected today.

Clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson said: "If the forecast is correct we have got problems, so I'm hoping the forecast is wrong.

"We cant take much more rain, we're at the absolute limit and we are forecast showers on and off for most of the day."
