Taylor cruises through
Josh Taylor eased through his first bout in the World Boxing Championships in Almaty but there was disappointment for Liverpool's Sam Maxwell.
Lochend light-welterweight Taylor dominated Trinidadian opponent Akiel Outram from the start, forcing a standing count in the first round as he cruised to a unanimous points win.
But Maxwell suffered a controversial disqualification following a clash of heads in the third round of his bout against Dario Vangeli of Italy.
And Welshman Zack Davies also bowed out of the 64kg category after a unanimous points loss to Ermek Sakenov of Kyrgyzstan.
Irish light-welterweight Ray Moylette nudged through with a split decision win over Alexandros Tsanikidis of Greece, while lightweight Sean McComb also advanced with a powerful points win over Almog Briga of Israel.
