Middlesbrough old-boy Andrew Taylor will have no qualms about ending his former club's play-off hopes with Cardiff on Saturday.
Taylor, who left the Riverside Stadium for Cardiff last summer, will head into the sixth-placed Bluebirds' final game of the season at Crystal Palace knowing a win will secure their ticket to the end-of-season shoot-out and deny Boro, whatever they do at Watford.
Taylor told the Northern Echo: "For purely selfish reasons and obvious reasons, there's not one single bit of me that hopes Middlesbrough get into the play-offs on Saturday afternoon.
"It's funny how things have turned out. For it to get to the last day with Middlesbrough needing us to lose to have a chance of getting back into the play-offs is just mad.
"But there is not one per cent of me that hopes Middlesbrough get there ahead of us. I really did want both teams to go up when I left them last year, but now it has to be just about Cardiff."
