Dundee United have joined Hearts in indicating they will vote against the proposal for the newco Rangers being accepted into the SPL.
Rangers require an 8-4 majority for the newco to be included in the top flight next season when all 12 Scottish Premier League clubs - including Rangers - vote on the issue at the general meeting on July 4.
In a statement on Thursday night, Dundee United said after discussing the situation with supporters' groups, they reached the conclusion that the sporting integrity of the competition required the newco Rangers not to be included.
The statement said: "The board... are unequivocal in the belief that a form of sporting punishment must form part of the reasoning behind any decision made and, therefore, cannot vote the newco into the SPL.
"General sporting integrity and, more importantly, the integrity of Scottish football must also play a significant part in the decision-making process. It is our belief that any form of sporting punishment must be unambiguous in the message it displays."

Maybe I'm being a bit cynical here, but which team would vote them in, when if they do they are taking a chance away from themselves to come 2nd in the league. I for one would be so surprised to see Celtic voting them in.

I would expect Celtic to vote Rangers in because they would be aware of the huge amount of revenue they would lose from the Old Firm derbies each year should Rangers be excluded from the SPL!
