The Fugue aimed at Guineas

John Gosden is prepared to let The Fugue take her chance in the Qipco 1000 Guineas after she completed a racecourse gallop at Newmarket.

Only seen once last term, when winning a maiden on the Rowley Mile, The Fugue was partnered by William Buick and finished together with her work companion, the Redcar winner and Dante Stakes entry Starboard.

"I was very pleased, she finished nicely upsides," said Gosden.

"She's in the Guineas and there's no reason not to run. Starboard will probably run in a conditions race at Sandown."

Following Gosden's pair down the track were a handful of Classic entries from Charlie Hills' stable.

Oaks possible Hazel Lavery finished in a bunch with 1000 Guineas outsiders Cockney Dancer and Gray Peal.

"I'm really pleased - they worked up nicely together," said Hills.

"Michael (Hills) was pleased with Gray Pearl. She was only a couple of lengths behind Wading in the Rockfel Stakes and the plan is to go for the Guineas.

"Cockney Dancer is in the Guineas. That should have done her the world of good, but I don't know what I'll do with her yet.

"Hazel Lavery will come back here for the Pretty Polly Stakes."
