The New One going well

Sam Twiston-Davies was thrilled by a schooling session from his Stan James Champion Hurdle ride The New One last week.

Trained by his father Nigel, last season's Neptune Novices' Hurdle winner won his first two starts of the campaign at Kempton, beating former champion Rock On Ruby, and Zarkandar, his Aintree Hurdle conqueror.

He was narrowly beaten by My Tent Or Yours in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton when a bad mistake at the last almost certainly cost him victory and he will now head to the Festival without another run.

Sam Twiston-Davies told At The Races: "He's in great form. We gave him a schooling session on Monday and he was brilliant.

"We're very happy. He'll be going straight to Cheltenham. I wouldn't swap my fellow for anything - I love him to bits."
