Thorne: Derby are on the up
George Thorne may have stepped out of the Premier League, but believes he will soon be back there with Derby County.
Following a protracted chase, Thorne has completed a switch to the iPro Stadium from West Bromwich Albion.
A productive loan spell at Derby last season saw him help Steve McClaren's men to within touching distance of the top flight, as they lost in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final.
Thorne is delighted to be back for a second shot at hitting the promotion jackpot, with the 21-year-old having made no secret of his desire to see a permanent switch pushed through.
He said in the Derby Telegraph: \"I would not have signed if I didn't think the club could be promoted to the Premier League.
\"I truly believe this is a club on the up and I am excited to be a part of it.
\"I've left a club from the top flight and I want to get back there as soon as I can.
\"I really enjoyed the loan spell last season and working with Steve McClaren.
\"I think the style of play suits me down to the ground and a key factor in coming here permanently is the chance to play first team football.\"
