Thunder earmarked for Greenham
Night Of Thunder is a possible opponent for Kingman in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury next month.
The Richard Hannon-trained three-year-old won both of his starts in impressive fashion last season.
He is around 20-1 for the 2000 Guineas and Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owner Saeed Manana, feels the Greenham is more likely than the Craven at this stage.
Having only run over six furlongs to date, though, his stamina is still open to debate.
But Raymond said: "I would like to think he'd get a mile. He showed lots of speed last year but, on breeding, he should be okay.
"Time will tell us what he wants, but the Richards (Hannon and Hughes) like him, he looks well and has done well over the winter.
"I would imagine that if he has a prep run it would be the Greenham rather than the Craven as that is a race the Hannons like. We don't need to make a decision yet, though.
"As for ground you'd have to be dubious about his ability to handle a quick surface, but only because he went so well on soft ground last year. He didn't have the opportunity to race on anything else. At this stage of his career we know nothing different."
