Tiara team mull Ascot outing

Henry De Bromhead has yet to decide if Special Tiara will join stable companion Days Hotel in the Clarence House Chase at Ascot on Saturday.

The County Waterford handler has confirmed Days Hotel an intended starter in this weekend's Grade One feature, with the likely testing conditions expected to bring out the best in the nine-year-old.

However, Special Tiara, a shock winner of last season's Grade One Maghull Novices' Chase at Aintree, prefers a sounder surface and de Bromhead is weighing up whether to let him make the journey across the Irish Sea.

"Days Hotel will definitely run, but I'm not sure about Special Tiara yet. We're just weighing up things with him," said the trainer.

"The options for Special Tiara are a bit limited at the moment because he's really a good ground horse. If he doesn't run on Saturday, the other option is the Tied Cottage Chase at Punchestown (February 2).

"Both races are going to be run on soft ground, so we'll just have to decide which is the better option.

"He'll run in one or the other, all being well, and it will be a stepping-stone to some of the better ground races in the spring."
