Timberwolves add to Lakers woe

The Los Angeles Lakers fell to a seventh successive loss on Tuesday evening as they were beaten 109-99 by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Kevin Martin's 32 points and a starring role from Kevin Love, with 31 points and 17 rebounds, lifted the Timberwolves to their victory.

The game saw Steve Nash return from a near three-month absence for the Lakers, springing to action after a back problem but appearing in a losing cause.

Al Jefferson's 30-point game steered the Charlotte Bobcats to a 91-75 victory over the Golden State Warriors, while Carlos Boozer played a key role with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Chicago Bulls' 101-92 win over the Phoenix Suns.

In Atlanta, the Hawks were edged out 89-85 by the Eastern Conference-leading Indiana Pacers.
