The rookie scored in the first and second periods to put the Kings three goals ahead after Jarret Stoll had opened the scoring 10:38 into the match.

The Blues launched a late comeback with goals from Kevin Shattenkirk and Vladimir Tarasenko but there was not time for a leveller.

Steve Bernier and Michael Ryder also scored for the Canadiens.
