Tolworth meeting under threat
Sandown officials say a proposed 7.30am inspection for Saturday's big fixture could be brought forward to Friday.
With areas of the chase course and hurdles track already waterlogged, further showers are possible throughout the day.
A statement issued by the Esher circuit on Friday morning read: "Given current forecast and ground conditions there will be an inspection at 7.30am Saturday morning at the latest.
"Squally showers at 7am - two millimetres (of rain) so far - and further showers possible Friday.
"Possibly further heavy rain during Saturday but still some uncertainty over this."
Sandown clerk of the course Andrew Cooper said the track, which is due to feature the Grade One 32Red Tolworth Hurdle, had sustained 9mm of overnight rain.
He tweeted: "We will inspect at 7.30am Saturday morning at the latest, but this may be brought forward to today."
