Top Totti set for Cheltenham
Trainer Henry Daly is hoping Top Totti can build on her promising Festival effort at Cheltenham's April meeting next week.
Trainer Henry Daly is hoping Top Totti can build on her promising effort at The Festival in the £20,000 Listed OLBG.com Supports Mares' Jump Racing Mares' Handicap Hurdle on the second day of The April Meeting at Cheltenham, Thursday, April 17.
The six-year-old is sure to be a leading contender for the two mile, five and a half furlong contest, having stayed-on to take sixth behind the mighty Quevega in the Grade Two OLBG Mares' Hurdle at The Festival on March 11, beaten five and three quarter lengths.
It was a big step up on her previous effort when she was second in a mares' handicap hurdle at Ludlow on February 5, but she had routed her rivals by 19 lengths in a three-mile handicap hurdle at the same course in January.
Daly reported: "Top Totti has taken her race at Cheltenham well and the plan is to run in the OLBG.com Supports Mares' Jump Racing Mares' Handicap Hurdle.
"I was chuffed with her at The Festival and I wouldn't have run unless I thought she would run well. She had been running consistently before that and the performance that surprised me was when she won by 19 lengths at Ludlow.
"I don't know if better ground helped her at Cheltenham because it was horrible at Ludlow. I don't think the ground really matters to her.
"She didn't get put up (in the handicap) for her run at Cheltenham and, if she can run to that form again, she must have a chance."
Thursday's seven-race card also features the £40,000 Listed EBF/TBA Mares' Novices' Chase Finale over two mile and five furlongs, while the £50,000 Grade Two Wooden Spoon Charity Silver Trophy Handicap headlines the opening day of The April Meeting on Wednesday, April 16.
