Tottenham embark on US tour

Tottenham arrived in Los Angeles at the weekend with the players looking forward to their US tour.

Spurs play LA Galaxy on Tuesday before travelling to Baltimore to take on fellow Premier League side Liverpool.

The pre-season tour concludes with a game against old rival Thierry Henry's New York Red Bulls side and the players are excited about the high-profile games ahead.

"The lads went there two years ago and it was a good trip," Michael Dawson told the club's official website.

"We've three really good matches, LA Galaxy, Liverpool - that will be a bit different as a pre-season friendly - and then New York Red Bulls. Good games, hot weather and hard graft."

Younes Kaboul added: "All the conditions will be geared to us having a good training camp and preparation, playing against big teams in LA, Liverpool and New York.

"I'm looking forward to going out there and meeting all the Spurs fans out there as well."

Jermain Defoe returned to pre-season training last week following his involvement at Euro 2012 with England.

"Speaking to the lads, everyone is looking forward to America," he said.

"Everyone is looking sharp, we've a new manager, everyone's excited, we all start fresh and everyone is looking forward to the challenge."

For summer signings Jan Vertonghen and Gylfi Sigurdsson the trip represents an opportunity to get to know their new team-mates.

Sigurdsson said: "It will be fantastic. I'm with the squad 27/4, not just three hours and then another session in the afternoon, we're together the whole time, so I'll get to the chance to chat to them and get to know them all."
