Trap names team to play Greece
Republic of Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni has named his team to face Greece in Dublin on Wednesday evening.
Trapattoni has selected a young side to face the Greeks and that may encourage Irish fans that the veteran Italian is keen to bring through the next generation of talent.
There are starts for Ciaran Clark and Robbie Brady while James McClean also takes his place in the starting line-up after a series of controversies.
James McCarthy also starts for Ireland in midfield, giving the Wigan man an opportunity to cement his place as the fulcrum of the team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Austria in the spring.
Shane Long earns an opportunity to start after his impressive displays for West Brom but there is no place for Norwich's Wes Hoolahan despite his inclusion in the squad.
Republic of Ireland team to face Greece: Westwood, Coleman, O'Shea, Clark, Ward, Whelan, McCarthy, McClean, Brady, Cox, Long.
