Tredwell and Meaker make debuts

England have handed Twenty20 debuts to James Tredwell and Stuart Meaker as they seek to continue their run of success against India.

They also entrusted wicketkeeping duties to Jos Buttler and left out Jonny Bairstow in a much-changed team from the one which completed the failed defence of their ICC World Twenty20 crown in Sri Lanka three months ago.

Several first-choice players returned home after completing the historic Test series victory in Nagpur four days ago, leaving an inexperienced squad to try to complete the tour on a high here and in Mumbai on Saturday.

Off-spinner Tredwell has one Test cap and nine in one-day internationals, while seamer Meaker has played just two 50-over matches for his adopted country.

Opener Michael Lumb returned and had an instant chance to impress after Mahendra Singh Dhoni chose to bowl first at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium.

India captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl first.
