Treharne named in Wales squad

Luke Treharne is the surprise inclusion in the 12-man Wales squad for this summer's rugby union sevens event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The University of Exeter student is joined by veterans Gareth Davies, Jevon Groves and Will Harries who are also part of coach Gareth Williams's squad.

Williams says: "Luke is someone we have been monitoring for some time but with his medical studies it has been difficult to see a lot of him.

"He's played a lot of sevens though and he has figured prominently in training.

"With his ability to play both nine and 10 he offers us some versatility."

And he says that selecting his dozen names has not been straightforward: "I have to admit some conversations haven't been easy but it goes to show how tough it is."
