
Fifth seed Viktor Troicki hit 16 aces as he powered past Lukas Rosol 6-4 7-6 (7/4) in the first round of the Qatar Exxonmobil Open in Doha.
The Serbian took 79 minutes to clinch the victory, nine more than were needed by eighth seed Andreas Seppi of Italy, who converted five of 12 break point opportunities to eliminate Poland's Lukasz Kubot.
In other Monday matches, Albert Ramos of Spain beat Russian Dmitry Tursunov 7-5 6-2 while Italian Flavio Cipolla thrashed wild card Jabor Al Mutawa 6-0 6-0.
Ramos will take on sixth seed Alex Bogomolov Jr of Russia in the second round after he recovered to beat Italy's Filippo Volandri 5-7 6-4 6-2, while Benjamin Becker beat Igor Kunitsyn 6-4 7-5, having to battle back in the second to complete a straight-sets win.
Top seed Rafael Nadal begins his campaign against Philipp Kohlschreiber tomorrow while there is a repeat of the 2011 final between Roger Federer and Nikolay Davydenko.
