Tsonga and Gulbis reach final
Defending champions Jo-Wilfried Tsonga reached the final of the Open 13 in Marseille after a straight-sets victory over Jan-Lennard Struff.
The Frenchman also won this title in 2009, but Struff was to make him battle for his hat-trick chance as he took the first set to a tie-break.
World number 10 Tsonga eventually showed his class, though, and prevailed 7-6 (7/4) 7-5.
The 28-year-old will face Ernests Gulbis in Sunday's final, the Latvian having ended hopes of an all-French showdown with victory over Richard Gasquet.
A tight battle was expected between the first and third seeds but in the end it was a relatively simple job for Gulbis as he claimed a 6-3 6-2 win.
"Today was very good," Gulbis told atpworldtour.com.
"Everything was working: serve, backhand. I was a bit tired from yesterday, so I just tried to keep the points short and I felt so good doing that."
