Ustari signs for Sunderland
Sunderland have signed Argentinian goalkeeper Oscar Ustari on a six-month contract.
The 27-year-old, a free agent following his release from Almeria, will go straight into the squad for Wednesday's Capital One Cup semi-final, second leg against Manchester United.
Ustari, who has played twice for Argentina, joined Almeria from Boca Juniors on a two-year contract last summer but featured only twice in the Copa del Rey with Esteban Suarez retaining the gloves for La Liga matches.
In a statement, the Spanish club said: "Almeria and Oscar Ustari have reached an agreement to rescind the player's contract.
"The Argentinian goalkeeper had asked the club to leave so he could have minutes in another team, as one of his objectives is to be able to return to the Argentina squad and play in the World Cup in Brazil."
On his move, Ustari told UDA Radio: "Despite not having played much here I've been very happy these six months. Almeria is a great city to live in and I won't forget it. I have many friends in the dressing room.
"I want to thank Almeria for agreeing for me to go and I hope and trust that the team secure their survival several weeks before the end of the season.
"To the club, my team-mates, the coaching staff, the fans, to everyone, I
want to say thanks."
