Vale launch investigation
Port Vale have confirmed that they will investigate an incident at their training ground, which has ruled Doug Loft out for the season.
It is alleged Loft was involved in an altercation with team-mate Daniel Jones last week as Micky Adams' side prepared for their League One fixture against Notts County - a game the Valiants lost 4-2.
Both players have been first-team regulars under Adams this season but neither was involved at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
"For legal reasons, there's very little I can say other than on Thursday there was an incident between two players," Vale manager Adams told BBC Radio Stoke.
"The training ground incident resulted in one of the players, who I might add is an innocent party to this, receiving a facial injury that has consequently ruled him out for the rest of the season.
"The other party in question will be subject to a club disciplinary action and, until that has been concluded, we will not be issuing a further statement.
"It's another negative headline that, for some reason, this club attracts. But it has to be dealt with internally.
"The fans can rest assured that an investigation will take place and we will deal with it accordingly and severely, if needs be. Incidents like we had are disappointing, but they happen.
"The players who have represented the club over the past two years should feel proud. Even in the season when we went into administration, I was proud of everybody's efforts."
Loft's current contract with the club is set to expire in the summer.
