Varga joins Greuther on loan

Hungary international Jozsef Varga has joined Bundesliga outfit Greuther Furth from Debreceni VSC on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder had reportedly been watched by several Premier League clubs, including Swansea last summer, but he has now decided to move to Germany.

Greuther Furth head coach Mike Buskens is desperate to bring in new talent with his side currently sitting rock bottom and 12 points from safety in the standings.

Varga will join his compatriot Zoltan Stieber at the Trolli Arena and is expected to make his debut at the weekend at Schalke.

Meanwhile, Germany youth international Florian Trinks has admitted he is in talks with Greuther Furth over a potential move before the close of the January transfer window.

Trinks, 20, has just six months left on his current deal at Werder Bremen, but is in two minds as to whether to join the fellow Bundesliga side.

He told Deutsche Presse Agentur: "I have been in touch with Greuther Furth for quite some time now, but I have yet to make a final decision. It depends on Werder Bremen's plans because I have six months left on the deal and have not yet taken part in any league games this season."
