Vernon waits on deal talks

Scott Vernon would like to stay at Aberdeen, but he has no offer on the table and must consider all of his options.

The 30-year-old frontman is due to become a free agent this summer after four years at Pittodrie.

No contract extension has been put to him as yet, despite talks being opened with colleagues Barry Robson and Russell Anderson.

Vernon admits he is now at a crossroads in his career.

Having struggled for game time following the January arrival of Adam Rooney, the former Blackpool and Colchester United striker knows he has some big decisions to make.

Vernon said in the Daily Record: "I have to do the right thing.

"I love this club and want to stay, but there are things that need to be weighed up.

"It has been a frustrating season personally. It has been good for the club with major highs, the League Cup win being the main one.

"I would have liked to have played more.

"You speak to your agent and see what's out there but I won't do anything until I know what's happening here."
