Vitesse win, Heerenveen held

Patrick Van Aanholt struck a last-gasp winner as Vitesse moved three points clear at the Eredivisie summit on Saturday with a 2-1 triumph at PEC Zwolle.

Christian Atsu had opened the scoring after three minutes only for Guyon Fernandez to get the hosts back on level terms 10 minutes later.

But, just when the game looked to be heading for a draw, Van Aanholt popped up to nick all three points and lift Vitesse clear of FC Twente and Ajax.

Twente were 3-1 winners against Heracles Almelo on Friday night, while Ajax host PSV Eindhoven on Sunday.

Elsewhere, struggling Roda JC twice came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw at fifth-placed Heerenveen.

The home team went ahead through Hakim Ziyech in the 12th minute and an Alfred Finnbogason penalty in the 66th, but were pegged back on each occasion.

Krisztian Nemeth grabbed the visitors' first equaliser on the half-hour mark, with Guus Hupperts ensuring the spoils were shared by bagging a second leveller with 19 minutes on the clock.

AZ Alkmaar climbed to seventh in the standings with a comfortable 3-0 home success against NAC Breda.

First-half goals from Steven Berghuis and Aron Johannsson set Gertjan Verbeek's side on their way, with Berguis' second goal in the 69th minute sealing matters.

Finally, Evander Sno's penalty eight minutes from time earned RKC Waalwijk a 1-1 draw against 10-man FC Groningen, cancelling out Michael De Leeuw's first-half opener. The visitors' cause was not helped by the dismissal of Hans Hateboe midway through the second period.
