Volume prevails at Newbury

Volume made all to win the Sweetenham Stud Fillies' Trial at Newbury under Richard Hughes.

Luca Cumani's filly shaped well in a Newmarket handicap on her seasonal reappearance and she confirmed that impression under a perfectly timed ride from the champion jockey.

Despite being allowed the luxury of a soft lead, there was to be no hiding place for the 9/4 favourite in the final furlong as she was put under strong pressure by Irish raider, Lahinch Classics. However, the daughter of Mount Nelson proved up to the task and was ultimately to win going away.

Hadaatha ran on to be third with Inchila back in fourth.

Sky Bet now go 20/1 about the winner for the Investec Oaks at Epsom and have clipped the second into 25/1 (from 50/1) for the Fillies' showpiece.
