Vorm: No derby distractions
Michel Vorm has urged his Swansea team-mates to focus on West Ham this weekend and not look ahead to the eagerly-awaited south Wales derby.
The Hammers visit the Liberty Stadium on Sunday, a week before Swansea take on fierce rivals Cardiff in the first ever top-flight clash between the two sides.
But Swans goalkeeper Vorm wants to go to the Cardiff City Stadium on the back of a victory, and he knows the importance of not being distracted ahead of the visit of West Ham.
"Of course beating West Ham would be a boost ahead of the derby, but we have to be focused on Sunday's game," he said.
"If we get the three points we will have 13 points and we can relax in a different way before the derby.
"If I'm honest the fans are talking to me about the derby already but I'm just thinking about Sunday.
"There's a very positive vibe in the squad after beating Sunderland 4-0 because everyone knew we hadn't won at home for a while in the Premier League.
"West Ham are not a top, top team but they are a strong side.
"But they are a team we need to win at home against, these are the type of games we need to win."
Last week's win over Sunderland was Swansea's biggest home success in the Premier League, and saw them make the most of a string of second-half
Swans boss Michael Laudrup has admitted his side have occasionally been guilty of wasting chances they can ill-afford to pass up, and Vorm echoed his manager's desire for a clinical touch in front of goal.
"It's about the points you have at the end, not how many passes you make in
the game," he said. "Obviously that's our strength and we will keep on doing that but it's about how you keep on making chances and scoring goals.
"We did that against Sunderland, but West Ham is going to be a totally different game."
