Vorm: Rodgers simply the best

Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm believes Liverpool may have appointed the best manager in the Premier League in Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers left Swansea to take the vacant managerial role at Anfield and Vorm believes that Liverpool have made a great decision.

"I think it's the best move Liverpool can make," he told Sky Sports News.

"I've worked with him for a year and he's the best manager I've worked with - and I think he is the best manager maybe in the Premier League.

"He is quite young but very experienced and I think for Liverpool it's the best they could get. For him it's beautiful."

Despite declaring his support for Rodgers, Holland international Vorm was upset to lose the man who brought him to England last summer.

"For us it's the worst thing that could happen," he said. "It's disappointing but I think we showed throughout the season what we're capable of.

"If we can keep the club together we can go on playing good football under the new manager."

Vorm will certainly not be following Rodgers to Anfield this summer after Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins announced the club had come to an agreement with Liverpool regarding their players.

Jenkins revealed an agreement is in place to prevent Rodgers signing players from his former club for 12 months.

"We have got some protection on Brendan coming back for our players in the initial period, which I think is the right thing," Jenkins told talkSPORT.

"He has got a timescale to assess things there and that is going to take him while so I've got no worries there. We have got a 12-month respite."

Swansea are now looking for a replacement for Rodgers and former assistant manager Graeme Jones, who now holds the same role at Wigan, remains the front-runner.

Although Jenkins would not give away any names he did hint that the new boss would have to understand the ethos at the Liberty Stadium.

"The way we play, the philosophy in our club is not going to change," he said.

"We have got to bring someone in who is going to complement that.

"They have got to agree to work within our structure. Brendan did that, everything was set up for him and he continued that, built on it, and obviously we are going to continue on the right path and find the right person who is going to suit us."

As you say 'everything was set up for Rogers, all he did was continue our passing game...at Liverpool that isnt the case, he will have to try to alter the attitude of seasoned proffesionals ,I cant see it happening...but he is now in the past....I'm looking forward to another good season with our new manager.

I agree no doubt he was good for us and I am grateful for what he and the lads have done but anything's short of top 4 and I think he will get sacked.
