Leicester striker Martyn Waghorn made a scoring return from injury in the reserves on Thursday afternoon.
Waghorn, who has been sidelined since December because of a hamstring problem, completed 45 minutes.
He opened the scoring as a strong City side, that included Andy King, Paul Gallagher, Sean St. Ledger and Steve Howard, beat Notts County 3-1 at the King Power Stadium.
Howard doubled the lead before young striker Tom Hopper put Leicester 3-0 ahead.
Notts pulled a goal back with virtually the last kick of the game.
