Waites to face O'Shea in final
Scott Waites proved too strong for Richie George as he cruised into a BDO World Championship final against Tony O'Shea.
George had lit up the Lakeside on his debut by making the final four, but he could go no further as 'Scotty Too Hotty' waltzed through to a 6-1 victory.
And O'Shea later saw off Dutchman Wesley Harms 6-4 to earn a third crack at the final following runners-up finishes in 2009 and last year.
Waites, who has won the PDC Grand Slam of Darts title but had never been beyond the quarter-finals before at the Lakeside, and now he will appear in his first final looking in great form.
"It's absolutely fantastic to go up there and be five sets up at the break, it was brilliant," said the Brighouse thrower.
"I was really happy the way the game went today, I hit my doubles early on and that put a lot of pressure on him early.
"That's my job done for today now and I couldn't be happier so I can just put my feet up now and watch the second game."
O'Shea will make his third appearance in the Lakeside final after coming out on top in another slug-fest against Dutchman Harms, just as he did last year at the same stage.
"I've been getting better all week but I think there's still more in the tank," said O'Shea, who has lost two stone since complaining of fatigue last year. "I showed there that I'm not as old as people think I am!
"At the end of the game with Wesley last year I was flagging, I was shattered and I think that showed in the final, but this year I feel fit as a fiddle and I'd happily play a few more sets now."
