Wales call for Forest's Lynch

Nottingham Forest defender Joel Lynch has been called up to the Wales squad for their friendly against Mexico in New Jersey next week.

Lynch, who qualifies to play for Wales through his father, will join Forest team-mate Chris Gunter in the Dragons' squad.

It is the first time the 24-year-old has been recognised by Wales and he admitted he was surprised to receive the call up.

"I was really shocked when I got the call saying I was in the squad," Lynch told Forest's official website. "I can't wait, although I must admit I am a little nervous.

"But at least I'll have Gunts on the trip with me, so I can rely on him for advice if I need it."

Wales face Mexico at the MetLife Stadium on May 27.
