Ward bemoans penalty decision
Colchester manager John Ward was left frustrated by a penalty from Leon Clarke which gave Scunthorpe a 1-0 home victory.
Ward claimed Clarke admitted to him he thought he might have 'trodden' on the ball when Matt Heath challenged him.
But referee Chris Sarginson pointed to the spot and Clarke did the rest.
It leaves the Essex side in early trouble, still without a win in eight games.
"I am reluctant to complain about referees but they really should get things correct," said Ward. "It was the sort of decision that you will only get for you when you are at home.
"It's the way things are going for us at the moment, big decisions are going against us. I'm sure I sound like someone who is feeling sorry for himself at the moment. But I felt we played well enough to have got something from the game."
