Warnock coy on Diouf interest

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock has refused to be drawn on his reported interest in signing controversial ex-Blackburn striker El-Hadji Diouf

Diouf is thought to be one of several targets for Warnock as he looks to rebuild his squad at Elland Road.

News of Warnock's reported interest came as something of a surprise considering the history between the pair following an incident during Warnock's QPR days.

Warnock labelled Diouf a 'sewer rat' after accusing the Senegal star of abusing Jamie Mackie while he lay on the pitch with a broken leg during QPR's FA Cup clash with Blackburn last January.

Diouf has admitted he would jump at the chance of joining Leeds and Warnock has refused to rule out a move for the former Liverpool and Bolton man.

"You can keep asking me all day but I've said all along we're not going to say anything about speculation," Warnock told Sky Sports News.

"I am hoping to sign my first player tomorrow so that will be the first time I admit to talking to anyone.

"I'm at Leeds United. It's a club I'm going to do the best I can to bring the right players into the club and you'll have to wait to see if he is one of those targets or not."
