Warnock promises busy summer

Leeds manager Neil Warnock has promised "a lot of action in the summer" and revealed plans are well under way for next season.

Warnock has been given the go ahead by chairman Ken Bates to rebuild his squad during the close season in a bid to mount a promotion challenge and is hoping to complete his first signing next month.

"We're hoping to make our first signing by the end of the first week in May and there'll be a number after that," Warnock told the club's official website.

"There'll be a lot of action in the summer. We have to change a number of things. The chairman has said he will do his best to support me and we need an influx of new blood.

"I'm very close to making a couple of signings and I want to crack on. There'll be quite a lot happen these next few days behind the scenes and the sooner the better really. We all know what's needed, but I can't fault the effort the lads here have given me.

"There are areas where we need to strengthen and we just have to be patient and you watch games like Tuesday's and think 'well if that's one of the best teams in this league, roll on next season."'
