Warriors fall short in IPL

Pune Warriors fell agonisingly short of victory in their Indian Premier League match with Mumbai Indians on Thursday.

Mumbai batted first and made 120 for nine from their 20 overs, with openers Sachin Tendulkar and James Franklin putting on exactly 50 for the first wicket.

Franklin was dismissed for 25 as Tendulkar ultimately top scored with 34 from 35 balls, with only three other batsmen getting into double figures.

In reply, the home side relied on an unbeaten 42 from 34 balls from Mithun Manhas to get close to their target, and were left needing 12 runs from the final over.

But despite a four from the penultimate ball and two from the last of the match, they came up short with a total of 119 for six.
