Warwick card abandoned
Wednesday's evening card at Warwick came to an end after just two races following the fatal fall of a horse on the home bend.
The seven-race card was brought to premature end following the tragic events in the opening six-furlong handicap, in which Artful Lady slipped and fell approaching the three-furlong marker.
George Margarson's five-year-old mare had to be put down after veterinary treatment.
Trainers, jockeys and racecourse stewards inspected the home bend and then staged an inquiry.
After the affected area on the bend was heavily sanded, the following six-furlong fillies' maiden was eventually given the go-ahead and went off 20 minutes late.
But following the conclusion of that race, after further consultation with jockeys it was announced that racing was to be abandoned.
