Waterlogging claims Towcester

Monday afternoon's meeting at Towcester Racecourse has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track that can't be raced on.

Clerk of the course Robert Bellamy has called off their National Hunt fixture as heavy rain has left the track unraceable.

"It's been horrendous.We had 28 millimetres of rain overnight and it's still raining hard now," he said.

"The course is waterlogged and it will not improve in time for racing tomorrow.

"It's due to rain up until mid-afternoon according to the forecast I've seen and we wouldn't want any more from now, let then alone then. It's as simple as that I'm afraid."
